HD Rejuvenate Red Carpet Event: Hydrafacial and the "Gunk Tank"
A few weeks ago the lovely Liz from Hello Dental / HD Rejuvenate invited me to their Red Carpet Event promoting Hydrafacial skin treatment, a unique six step process for non invasive deep skin cleansing and exfoliation.
I don’t normally do much to my skin, apart from some moisturising and maybe an occasional face mask and scrub, so I was super excited to be invited to try something new! I have heard about Hydrafacial treatment earlier this year, when Hello Dental invited me for a visit. So…! To explain in more detail what Hydrafacial treatment is and what it does to your skin, I would like to take you through the six treatment stages.
1. Lymphatic drainage
The treatment starts with a stimulation of the red blood cells so they produce more oxygen. It also helps to detoxify and contour your skin! It’s excellent for contouring cheekbones and jaw lines and also, helps with puffiness of the eyes.
2. Deep cleanse and exfoliation
Stage 2 removes the top layer of dead skin cells, while pushing botanical cleansers and glucosamine into the skin.
Glucosamine is a non-acid exfoliant that stimulates collagen production and breaks down pigmentation.
The benefit of this stage is that it enhances penetration of serums therefore improving appearance of the skin.
3. Chemical peal
Stage 3 involves glycolic and salicylic acids which stimulate collagen and softens blackheads and impurities for better extractions and clearer skin.
4. Extraction
Using beta hydroxy acid, honey extract as an antibacterial agent, pores are slowly filled up to purge them. The machine can push the products into the skin to extract impurities and blackheads, leaving you with a clearer complexion and improved pore minimisation.
5. Hydration
Using a blend of antioxidants, hylaronic acid and peptides delivered deeper into the skin, it’s rehydrated to improve texture, clarity and appearance.
Horse chestnut seed extract, green tea extract, arnica flower extract, red algae and oat kernel extract are among the antioxidants.
Peptides are copper, zinc and magnesium. These are all essential ingredients your body needs to produce collagen and boost its production.
The hylaronic acid plumps skin to leave it looking and feeling refreshed.
6. LED light therapy
The final stage is an LED light therapy. Blue light is used for any breakouts and red light is used for any redness and stimulation of collagen production.
It does sound like a complex procedure and in a way it is, but it provides so many benefits to your skin!
I only tried four out of six stages and let me tell you, I was not disappointed. First of, Liz really cares to ensure that you are not allergic to anything that will be used on your skin. I am allergic to molluscs and there are traces of shellfish in the treatment, therefore, Liz invited me for an allergy test before the event. I had no reaction therefore, I was back for the treatment later that month.
Normally, Hydrafacial procedure takes an hour, but the four stages I received took only 30 minutes.
The procedure itself is not painful or uncomfortable, it actually feels quite satisfying having all the impurities sucked out of your skin! I really enjoyed it! The result was, super clean, super soft and refreshed skin. I loved knowing that my skin was clean and received the fantastic benefits of the procedure which include, but are not limited to stimulation, deep cleanse and exfoliation, pore minimisation, hydration, anti-oxidisation, improved appearance and glow. The next day, I really felt like my make up application was smoother than usual and in a way, this procedure worked as a really really good, long lasting primer!
Oh, I almost forgot - the gunk tank! Below you can see what’s been extracted out of my skin, and no, not all of that! This is the liquid that goes inside your pores and flushes out impurities. I was quite amazed to see that not much really came out of my skin!
